Instructions
- The test lasts 90 minutes. It is marked out of 100; the pass mark for the interview is 60.
- You may use a calculator or a spreadsheet. Show your workings: a correct result without workings receives only half the marks.
- Use the planning assumptions in document 3, even if they differ from those you know. Round rates to one decimal place (two for the case fatality rate) and quantities up to the next whole unit.
- Any outside help (another person, artificial intelligence) is forbidden. Scripts containing identical passages are disqualified.
- The documents are fictional but built on realistic data. Do not make unjustified assumptions; if you make one, state it.
Original practice test, built on the format of written tests used by United Nations agencies and international NGOs. The context and figures are fictitious.

- A 20-bed CTC in Monapo-Sede, opened in W38. Itoculo is about 35 km from the CTC, Netia 25 km; irregular public transport.
- Two ORPs, both in Monapo-Sede.

- Distribution of cases: severe dehydration (plan C) 25%; some dehydration (plan B) 45%; no dehydration (plan A) 30%. Plan B and C cases are admitted to the CTC, average length of stay 2 days; plan A cases are treated at ORPs.
- Supplies per case: plan C, 8 bags of 1 L Ringer's lactate, 6 ORS sachets and 3 doxycycline 100 mg tablets; plan B, 8 ORS sachets; plan A, 4 ORS sachets.
- Add a 20% margin to all supplies.

Mark each answer honestly against the panel's grid: the total is calculated automatically.
Common mistakes that cost marks
- Calculating the case fatality rate on the population instead of cases.
- Interpreting a high case fatality rate solely as virulence of the strain, without seeing the access problem.
- Applying the + 30% assumption without comparing it with the observed growth.
- Forgetting the 20% margin or plan A cases in the ORS calculation.
- Calculating beds on the total number of cases instead of admitted cases and length of stay.
- Agreeing to keep the name of the disease quiet, or communicating without the health authorities.
